This was one movie a lot of people had been waiting for, and because of that they just couldn’t wait until Sunday. Therefore we had an unusually low turn out for a blockbuster movie of only seven people. Still the weather is nice and warm in Oslo here which is great, when you’re outside, but Norwegian buildings don’t handle the heat too well, and I was a little worried it was going to be a sweat box inside the cinema. Luckily I had chosen to goto Colosseum which has a high dome roof, which I’m sure helped keep the heat away from us. I had heard horror stories of how hot it was inside the brand new Ringen cinema, oh well it’s only a few weeks of heat here in Norway so I can’t complain.
So down to the movie. After watching it I was shocked at the split between the attendees, some hated it, some loved it. I of course loved it as I grew up with the original Transformers cartoon. If I was to say something negative about the movie it was that unlike the first Transformers movie it didn’t have any references to the original cartoon that I could see. These throw backs were part of the charm of the original movie.
So what was this movie about:
- Transforming robots
- Transforming robots fighting
- Transforming robots transforming while fighting
- Feeling like a kid again watching your toys fighting up on the big screen
- Megan Fox’s lack of clothes and pouty lips
I mean I don’t know what the people who didn’t like this movie were thinking. Plot? Why is that important in this type of movie? I mean seriously, it a movie based on toys! And since when did the imagination of a child playing with transforming robots on his lounge room floor ever make sense? It’s all about the toys themselves people! Watching them go at it on the screen made me smile like a little kid again. Now I just got to go out and get me one of these!
Did I mention the fight scenes yet? Well the fight scenes were just awesome, with some new settings that I didn’t expect, that just enhanced the movie.
There seems to be Australians popping up everywhere now days and in this movie it was Isabel Lucas’ turn. A former Home and Away “actress”, and well she used all of her Home and Away acting skills in this role, but luckily not many were needed so she managed to pull it off, but then I’m sure almost anyone could have
Another important fact is we have the first photos published on the site since March 1st. Sorry all I had was my phone camera in a dark room but it’s better than nothing. I’ve heard rumor that the missing photos have made it from Espen’s camera to his hard drive, now he just has to upload them, get uploading Espen!
On a final note it was Jason’s last SMEx as he’s back off home to Canada shortly. Cheers and good luck!
To summarise, if you want to be a big kid, love transforming robots and want see Megan Fox in some skimpy clothes this is the movie for you.Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, 7.3 out of 10 based on 8 ratings
Hoff says: “I wish my beach Toyota Hilux would have transformed too!”
